After decades as a nurse, my passion is keeping people out of the hospital.
I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I was seven years old. When the neighborhood kids got hurt, it was me that treated their booboos.
Thus began 40+ years as a nurse, researcher, clinical consultant, and director of healthcare programs. I did have always been focused on how to keep people… especially seniors… out of the hospital in the first place. That led to years of work in home health care, and then a growing awareness of the problem posed by hard-to-open packaging.
Eventually I set out to research the problem, with seniors but also with package designers, leading senior-care organizations, and government agencies like the Food & Drug Administration and the Consumer Protection Agency. That work convinced me that with the right information and commitment, businesses could provide their customers with safe, secure packaging that doesn’t provoke wrap rage.
And that’s what OPENEZ is all about.
TESTIMONIALS FOR HANNAH BOULTON
December, 2020
To Whom It May Concern:
My husband and I are now in our nineties. I am a strong woman, but caring for an older, 96-year-old with dementia isn’t easy. Years ago (pre-COVID), Hannah began driving us to my husband’s doctor appointments and listening in on instructions and diminishing his anxiety – sometimes with a soothing, calm voice, and sometimes, depending on the level of anxiety, with humor.
I was in the ER and hospitalized for a few days (once), and she arranged for his care, tapping many others, and stayed with him often, reminding him of why I was gone, and where. If he was totally anxious, she would call the hospital and he could then speak with me.
Her passion for senior safe packaging is so welcome. We are of different generations. I am from the silent one. Her cohort speaks up. We seniors, and younger people also, are fed up with impossible-to-open containers of all kinds. We will all welcome safer, OPENEZ packaging. And we shall learn to return items we cannot open.
Thank you,
J. Kennett
